How Isochronic Tones and Brainwave Entrainment Can Improve Your Life

Do you know about all the things that isochronic tones may be able to do for you? Whether you're interested in becoming more confident, beating insomnia, thinking more creatively and improving your memory - or are looking for more esoteric experiences such as having out of body experiences and lucid dreams, or developing psychic powers, there's an isochronic tone recording that can help.

If you want to find out more about isochronic tones, continue reading, because it's worth your while to learn more about this increasingly popular technology.

Isochronic Tones Defined

Isochronic tones are a type of sound-based brainwave entrainment technology. They consist of sound pulses of certain frequencies that repeat rapidly. By listening to an isochronic tone recording, you may be able to to access various mental states and abilities more easily.

Keep reading for a more detailed look at how brainwave entrainment works. Then after that we'll examine isochronic tones in particular.

How Does Brainwave Entrainment Work?

Brainwave entrainment - which is also referred to as brainwave synchronisation - is based on the tendency of the brain to match (or entrain to) a periodically repeating stimulus, like pulses of light or sound. If the frequency of this stimulus matches brain's natural frequency range, the brain will begin to produce brainwaves of a similar frequency - this phenomenon is called the 'frequency following response'.

Brainwave frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz), or cycles per second, and the waves can be tracked using technology such as electroencephalogram (EEG) machines. Most professionals recognise the existence of four primary frequency bands, which are used to classify brainwaves. These are the delta, theta, alpha and beta ranges.

Delta brainwaves (

These low frequency brain waves are produced mainly during deep (non-dreaming) sleep. In addition, they're associated with very deep trance states, cell regeneration and certain expanded states of consciousness.

Theta brainwaves (4 - 8Hz)

The production of theta brainwaves is associated with trance states and a number of psychic abilities, along with deep meditation and self-hypnosis. The subconscious mind may be easier to access in the theta state, making it useful for gaining insights and reprogramming unhelpful beliefs. Theta brainwaves are also produced in abundance during dreaming (REM) sleep.

Alpha brainwaves (8 - 12 Hz)

People produce alpha waves when they're lightly relaxed, as such as when daydreaming. They're also produced when the eyes are closed or we are in the half awake state between sleeping and waking. Alpha wave production is vital for psychological health, and those who are afflicted with mood disorders such as anxiety may produce fewer alpha waves than normal.

Beta brainwaves (> 13Hz)

When we're fully awake and focused on a demanding task, beta brainwaves are produced. Although most people have no problems accessing the beta state, some individuals - such as those suffering from ADD - may produce fewer beta brain waves than usual.

It's worth noting that not all researchers agree on where the frequency bands start and end, so these figures aren't absolute. In addition, there are other, more disputed, brainwave types, such as episilon and gamma waves, which are beyond the scope of this article.

How Brainwave Synchronization Can Help You In Day To Day Life

The great thing about brainwave synchronization is that it can make it easier to enter particular states of consciousness or access particular mental abilities. For example, you might want to be able to hypnotize yourself at will. Becoming proficient at self-hypnosis can normally take a long time, by using a brainwave entrainment recording that's designed for this purpose, you may be able to enter a self-induced hypnotic state significantly more quickly and easily, thanks to the brain's frequency following response.

While there are a variety of brainwave entrainment technologies available (such as different mind machines), the simplest, most economical and most convenient method is to use sound recordings. These are available on CD, or can be downloaded from the web, and they fall into three categories: isochronic tones, binaural beats and monaural beats. Let's take a look at how these differ.

Isochronic Tones Vs Binaural Beats Vs Monaural Beats

These three methods all work slightly differently, although all may be very effective.

Binaural beats are the oldest and best known variety of brainwave entrainment. When using binaural beats, you use headphones, and each ear receives a pure sine wave tone of a specific frequency. The original tones are then integrated by the brain, and it produces a third tone. The frequency of this third tone is equivalent to the difference between the original two tones. For example, let's say the right ear receives a tone of 325Hz, and the left ear a tone of 330Hz. There is a 5Hz difference between these sounds, so the brain will produce a 5Hz tone, before entraining to this frequency (which is in the theta brainwave range). So you can see that by altering the frequency of the tones entering each ear, you can control the frequency of the tone created by the brain.

Monaural beats vary in that the two sine waves are merged before reaching the ear. Consequently the brain doesn't have to generate the correct tone, and many find that monaural beats are more efficient for this reason. Monaural beats also don't require headphones, although they can still help to shut out distractions when listening.

Isochronic tones feature just one tone, which is turned on and off very quickly. They differ from monaural beats in that there's a space between each tone - this silent interval appears to make isochronic tones particularly easy for the brain to sync with.

Are Isochronic Tones The Best Brainwave Synchronization Method?

Thanks to the ease with which the brain can match them, many people who are experienced with brainwave entrainment agree that isochronic tones are the most effective brainwave synchronization method for many purposes.

Having said that, you should be aware that isochronic tones (and monaural beats too) may not be as effective for delta synchronisation. At lower frequencies the tones start to sound somewhat jagged, and can be irritating and distracting. In contrast to binaural beats, isochronic tones can't be totally hidden by music or other sounds, so they have to remain audible. As a result, a lot of brainwave entrainment aficionados choose to stick with binaural beats for delta work instead.

So, isochronic tones are excellent for entraining to the theta, alpha and beta frequencies, but you may not get the same results with delta work. However, it's a good idea to experiment for yourself to see what works for you - you may find that they work well at low frequencies, or you may well decide you prefer monaural or binaural beats - you won't know unless you try!

Things Isochronic Tones Can Help With...

Isochronic tones aren't as widely known or commonly used as binaural beats (which are a much older technology), but they are growing to be progressively more popular. Here are some of the things isochronic tones are used for:

Memory improvement
Expanding your creativity
Better sleep
Reducing anxiety
Tapping into your extra-sensory abilities, like telepathy etc.
Boosting your energy
Astral projection
Learning to have lucid dreams
Achieving Christ Consciousness
Better self-hypnosis sessions
Balancing your chakras
Past life regression
Overcoming addictive behaviour
Releasing endorphins
Boosing your motivation
...and many more!
Isochronic tones are so helpful because practically everything we want to do and experience is linked with a particular mental state. And because these various states correspond to the production of brainwaves of certain frequencies, listening to sounds that trigger these frequencies in the brain may help you to get into the state you want at will. You can achieve similar results by learning mind control methods, but this is normally a long-term effort; brainwave synchronization just helps to make the entire process much quicker and easier.

Do Isochronic Tone Recordings Work For Everyone?

To be honest, no - as with any other technique, people will have different experiences with with isochronic tones. This might be a result of some natural resistance to brainwave synchronization. Or it could be that they don't work with the recording for enough time to experience the results they want (it doesn't always work first time - you need to keep going). Or maybe they're using a poor quality recording. There are many reasons why a few folks don't get their desired results, but don't let that discourage you from trying isochronic tones, because they work extremely well for countless people.

I've personally found all three brainwave synchronization techniques to give excellent results. However generally I didn't get these results the first time I listened - I had to practice regularly for a while to begin with. Brainwave synchronization can be extremely potent, but you do have to commit to working with it regularly, and to focus your attention on the recording. Basically, it isn't a magic bullet, and you'll get out what you put into it.

Finding Top Quality Isochronic Recordings

It's very important to use good quality isochronic recordings - it is pointless messing with with badly made recordings that simply don't work well.

I highly recommend taking a look at the enormous collection of isochronic tones from The Unexplainable Store, which is a highly respected site that fully guarantees all its downloads, so you can try them with confidence. You can also get the recordings in binaural and monaural beat formats if you prefer, and there are free samples available for immediate download - find out more at http://www.brain-sync.com

Brainwave Entrainment FAQs - 5 Common Questions About Brainwave Synchronization

Brainwave entrainment - also known as brainwave synchronization or brainwave stimulation - has become very popular in recent years, and rightly so, as it can help people to improve their lives in many ways. If you want to know more about this great technology and how it can help you, read on to find out the answers to five of the most commonly asked questions about brain wave entrainment.

1. What Is Brainwave Entrainment?

When using brainwave entrainment, you are exposed to a periodically repeating stimulus such as a pulse of sound or light. The purpose of this is to cause the frequency of your brainwaves to match - or entrain to - the frequency of the stimulus. This works thanks to a natural phenomenon called the 'frequency following response'.

Brain wave entrainment is useful because different mental states are associated with the production of brainwaves of different frequencies. So this process helps you to access these various states more easily. For example, a person might use a brainwave recording that's designed to help them to enter the theta state (where the brainwaves are predominantly 5 - 8Hz in frequency) - this is relatively easy with brain entrainment, but would normally require a lot of practice to achieve through unaided meditation alone.

2. What Are The Main Types Of Brainwave Entrainment Technology?

Sound and light are the most commonly used methods, with sound recordings being the cheapest and most accessible form. You can also use 'mind machines', which incorporate both sound and light together by using headphones and special LED goggles.

Sound-based entrainment techniques include binaural beats, monaural beats and isochronic tones.

Binaural beats Binaural beats are the oldest and most widely used technology. When listening to a binaural recording, you hear two pure sine wave tones, one through each ear. Each tone has a different frequency, and the brain integrates the two tones to produce a third tone. This self-created third tone has a frequency that is equal to the difference between the first two tones.

For example, if your recording uses tones of 320 and 325Hz, your brain will produce a 5Hz tone. The brain then entrains to this 5Hz tone.

Headphones are needed when using binaural recordings, since each ear must receive a different tone.

Monaural beats Monaural beats also use pure sine wave tones, but in this case they are mixed before reaching the ear, so the brain doesn't need to do the work of creating its own tone to entrain to. Many people find monaural beats to be more effective than binaurals, perhaps because there's less work involved for the brain.

Headphones aren't necessary when using monaural beats, although they can help to eliminate distractions.

Isochronic tones Isochronic tones are the newest form of brainwave entrainment technology, and are generally regarded as the most effective for many purposes.

With isochronic tones, a distinct sound pulse is turned on and off rapidly (the speed depending on the frequency you want to entrain to). Isochronic tones differ from binaural and monaural beats in that each pulse of sound is separated by a clear interval of silence - this makes isochronic sounds very easy for the brain to entrain to.

Headphones aren't required with isochronic tones either.

Mind machines 'Mind machines', also called light and sounds machines, make use of binaural beats and often monaural beats and isochronic tones too. They also include goggles which create pulses of LED light - these may be used alone or in conjunction with the sounds for greater effect.

3. What Is Brain Entrainment Used For? People use brainwave technology of a huge variety of purposes, both for solving problems and enhancing their lives. These include:

More effective meditation or self-hypnosis sessions
Developing extra-sensory abilities such as telepathy or remote viewing
Learning to have lucid dreams and out of body experiences
Overcoming insomnia
Increasing their energy
Improvement of mental functions such as memory and the ability to focus
And many more!

4. Does Brainwave Entrainment Really Work?

Yes, brainwave entrainment does work - this is a very thoroughly researched technique with a lot of scientific backing. Binaural beats in particular have been extensively studied since their discovery in the 19th century.

However, not all of the claims that are made for it have been scientifically verified (especially when it comes to things like increasing your psychic powers). Still, there is a huge amount of anecdotal evidence from people who have successfully used binaural beats etc. for such purposes, and it's certainly worth experimenting with if you're curious and open-minded.

Having said that, not everyone gets the results they want from brainwave entrainment. No technique is 100% effective for everyone and this is no exception. Some people just seem to be resistant to it for some reason, or they don't stick with it for long enough to see results (it can take repeated practice before you really begin to tap into the power of the recording or program you're using).

As with anything, the best way to find out if brainwave stimulation will work for you is to try it!

5. Is Brainwave Entrainment Safe?

Sound-based brainwave work is generally considered to be safe, and few people have 'bad trips' or experience anything negative. However, as with anything, there's always a possibility that some people might experience adverse effects, so you do try it at your own risk.

Light-based programs carry more risk for those who are epileptic or have similar disorders, as flashing lights can trigger seizures.

It's generally recommended that those who are physically or mentally ill, or who have any doubts about using these methods, should seek professional medical advice before proceeding.

Hopefully this has answered your main questions about this powerful technology. If you decide to try it for yourself, you might now be wondering where to start. I recommend starting with brainwave entrainment recordings, as these are very easy to find and use, don't cost much, and are very effective.

It's important to use a high-quality recording for best results. I personally like using the alpha and theta meditation recordings from The Unexplainable Store. This is a very popular site, and all their recordings are fully guaranteed. You can also download some samples to try out right away - just go to http://www.brain-sync.com for more information.

How To Help ADD Without Bad Side Effects With Brainwave Entrainment

Life on the edge of sleep.

That's how a child with ADD spends most of their time. This is a true description of what a child diagnosed with attention deficit disorder experiences.

Repatterning therapy, brainwave entrainment, stimulates areas of the brain that are functioning at a low capacity, with a targeted frequency that doesn't cause any bad side effects.

ADD children can't focus for long on physical reality and return to a state of reflection and dreaming as a default--this is the alpha brainwave state.

This is exhibited by

making careless mistakes.
appearing not to listen.
being disorganized.
forgetting things.
having trouble focusing on a specific task.
speaking and acting out of turn.
not considering consequences before acting.
restlessness.

Emotionally, the child feels

anxiety.
low self-esteem.
frustration.
boredom.
tired because has trouble sleeping soundly.
hopeless.
lost because he has trouble managing time and getting along with others.

There are many different types of treatments available today and it has been noted that a combination of therapies seems to be the way to go.

Biological

medications
diet
vitamin supplements and herbal remedies
repatterning therapies such as brainwave entrainment
rebalancing therapies such as acupuncture
sensory integration therapies
manipulation therapies

Psychological

Behavioural therapy to help deal with feelings coming from the symptoms
Understanding how to change the way he thinks and acts to improve his life.

Entrainment

Brainwave entrainment uses auditory rhythms to stimulate and influence the nervous system.

Based on the findings of Jeff Strong (1993), our nervous systems are rhythmically organized and can be influenced by externally produced rhythms. Research shows that use of entrainment can have a positive impact on ADD. Entrainment directs the listener's brain to a desired state of consciousness.

Our brains like novel stimuli that is unrecognizable and this is especially true in ADD making entrainment very effective.

When a person with ADD listens to a specific complex rhythmic pattern, their brain is stimulated in ways that result in immediate improvement in symptoms. Many ADD have lower activity levels in one or more areas of the brain. They stay in alpha wave--a relaxed, day dreamy frequency, most of the time. This brainwave is most profound when they read or listen--explaining why they miss what is being said. They don't produce many beta waves--the alert, focused brainwave.

Brainwave entrainment, using targeted rhythms and techniques, stimulates those areas of the brain that are deficit, increasing the activity levels, providing a good alternative to medication.

Brain stimulation provides the child with

a calming effect within minutes. (When starting out, a session's effects will last a few minutes after it is done; after a week, several hours; eventually the effects are permanent).
an increased ability to regulate mood.
improved math skills.
increased language skills.
improved attention span.
less distractibility.
less impulsivity.
less hyperactivity or restlessness.
an improved learning ability

Entrainment for 8 - 10 weeks usually gives the brain time to form new neural pathways or circuits resulting in permanent changes in the brain. Topping off the brain with a session every week or so thereafter, keeps the new circuits running at full capacity.

Brainwave entrainment is an alternative therapy that can help your child with ADD, without the side effects usually produced by medications.

* P.S. Just a little note: chewing peppermint gum will raise beta wave levels quickly--in less than a minute--if your child needs a little focusing on the spur of the moment.

The Power of Brainwave Entrainment

There's a scientific tool similar to hypnosis that has been used by many people in increasing their IQ levels. It has already received countless positive feedback because it has truly worked and continues to work for those who are wanting to boost their brain power. This technique is called the Brainwave Entrainment System. On this post, I shall describe to you what this system is all about, what benefits it gives it users and how one can attain the quality of life and level of thinking that he/she has been wanting for so long but never seems to get. Everybody wants to be better individuals, right? Everybody wishes to be more intelligent, a lot wiser in their dealings with other people, happier in general, right? Who doesn't want to get promoted at work? Who doesn't want to be with the person of their dreams? Who doesn't want to be blissful? If you're one of those people wishing to live a full life, then this article will suit you.

Seven (7) decades have passed since the Brainwave Entrainment System has been first introduced. Basically, this system deals with the electrical responses that our brain makes in response to the rhythmic sensory stimulation which is like a vibration or pulsation of both sound and light. Unknowingly, we all have been using it since the beginning of time. When you view the horizon as the sun rises or sets, when you listen to the humming of the birds, when you walk along the beach and hear the roar of the waves, when you go dancing or partying with friends, when you watch TV or listen to the radio, in everything you do, it involves brainwave entrainment in action.

When our brain gets stimulation through our senses electrical responses get transmitted. They are the presentations of rhythmic stimuli our brain represents. These rhythms, as they get consistent, eventually appear to be like the natural internal rhythms of our brain. These are what we call brainwaves. When this happens, the electrical cycles in our brain are harmonized and integrated in same rhythm.

I used to wonder if this type of mind training is safe. Well, after doing it for a couple of months, I can definitely say that it is. Brainwaves are a natural part of our lives and they always get activated no matter what we do. You will just have to channel these brainwaves properly so you are able to maximize its full benefits and potential. Take for example the recent passing away of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. At that time, anywhere you went, his music was being played (in the radio, on TV, even in the streets and at every home). People did this to show their grief and sadness. By having done so, they were entertaining their brain in both happy and sad ways. It's the same thing with the use of Brainwave System. The only difference is that with the latter, the process and results are more targeted, specific and scientific and are not simply for personal pleasure. You will get what you want and it won't be just any random goal. For instance, if you want to increase your IQ, there are specific sounds and music that you will have to listen to. Another kind of music and brainwave sounds will be used for curing insomnia, or for overcoming anxiety and panic attacks and so on and so forth. On the other hand, if you have some serious sickness that is related to brainwaves like, epilepsy, seizures , bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and any other brain sickness, make sure that you consult with your physician first before using the Brainwave Entrainment System. For those who are in the clear and are free to use the system, if you want to increase your IQ, you just have to listen to the CD regularly, say, 30 minutes every night before going to bed, for at least two months.

You will start to see effects depending on how receptive you are about the whole process. It will also depend on your consistency of listening. However, like me and those who are religiously following instructions, you will begin to see desired changes in yourself as soon as your first session is over. Like for me, I immediately felt calm, I could once again think clearly, I was more focused with my tasks and I started remembering stuff that I always used to forget before. Other more concrete changes will start to show after two weeks of consistent listening. The reason for this is that the more you listen to the assigned recordings, the quicker your brain tends to adapt to the sounds and the easier for your brain to produce similar rhythms and frequencies. Have you ever experienced having a song in your head that plays over and over? It's like having a last song syndrome, only this time, the effects are better, lasting and more scientific in nature.
